I’m convinced James is a ‘born magician’—or at least related to one. He definitely doesn’t give off ‘minor character’ vibes. Honestly, Anya felt more like a one and done character in that book, whereas James has way too much going on for someone who’s supposed to be a minor character. It makes me think he’s going to be pivotal later on.
I’m also starting to question if Ultima is actually the first born magician. If he is, it raises the question: where exactly did his magic come from?.

Yeah, it was a pretty specific scene, so maybe it was a bit of foreshadowing that he may play a bigger role than we know yet.
